we're back

we're back. what a fun time. a little wet in chicago, but fun just the same. i wish we would have had a few more days to explore. the girls really did do well, but with airport security it was a pain in the butt! kylee got so mad at them when they made her take off her shoes. kylee was so funny this trip. she was all about daddy! poor guy had to sleep on a fold out sofa bed while i enjoyed an entire bed to myself. i was able to stretch out, alan just got a couple of knees in the groin, and fingers in the face. as you'll see below alaina got her own drawer to sleep in. i tried to put her in bed with me, but she just couldn't do it...she needs the boundaries. another classic kylee story....we were at panera's getting lunch, everyone was in line except mom and i, kylee comes up to our table and clearly asks, "ohie, what in the hell are you doing in my seat?" ohie started laughing and i just looked at kylee and told her it was not nice to talk to ohie with that tone....completely oblivious to what was really said. the "hell" word went right over my head, i didn't get the real version of what she said for two more hours. i couldn't help but laugh.

the rest of the trip to michigan for brian and nikki's wedding was great. congratulations guys. we are so happy for you. it was great to see everybody, and reminisce. i have to say it wasn't too much fun getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning the next day to drive back to chicago. we were absolutely exhausted, but well rested now! thanks so much mom and dad for coming with us, we couldn't have survived with out you.

chicago here we come......or die trying

today i am a little nervous....we are traveling to chicago, then michigan with two small kids. i'm not too worried about kylee, she loves to fly, but alaina hasn't been feeling well, and with cabin pressure...you know. more than anything i'm not looking forward to lugging all the stuff around, i.e. stroller, carseat, carseat base, etc......i really shouldn't be complaining i know people do this all the time and i am really looking foward to our time together (and to see brian FINALLY tie the knot), not to mention, we do have reinforcement meeting us in chicago....thank you so much mom and dad r. it really will be a great time, i know it....even if it is forecast to rain the entire time we are there.

kylee of course has been talking non-stop about "chicago." her and i have just started doing devotionals and guess what monday's lesson was about..."anticipation." so every time she ask if we "are going to chicago after my nap" i have her recite the scripture verse from our lesson...."blessed is the one who waits" (daniel 12:12). it is so neat to see her learn and be armed with the word of the Lord!

well, i'm signing off. keep us in your prayers. i'll post pictures when we get back....i may even sneak one in while we are there.

love those veggies

most of you already know that i make most of lainey's baby food, and she typically loves them. actually, she can barely contain herself when she see's them being pulled from the fridge, but last night was a little different. i decided to change things up a bit, i made a mix of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower (i had the mylicon drops very close by.) well, as you could she wasn't a big fan, but in spite of that she did eat the whole thing. we got a big kick out of watching her reaction to it.

man, i love fall...and these two

isn't this just the cutest! "today alan turned "30!" (does time fly or what?) instead of birthday cake i made the birthday boy a yummy apple pie...i think this had to be one of the best i've ever made (not to brag or anything, but i can make a damn good apple pie....thanks to grama holles's wonderful pie crust recipe. sorry, don't even try to ask me for it, i won't tell....family secret:)) ever since i told kylee that we were going to make daddy a pie for his birthday she couldn't stop talking about it. on the way home from church she told me (with so much excitement in her voice) "daddy is going to be so excited and happy that we are going to have a pie for his birthday party"...i think someone else was a little more excited than daddy. while i was making it i think she asked me over a hundred times (not exaggerating) if she could have a piece. she was driving me nuts, "it's still baking, you can have a piece after dinner"....two seconds later, "can i have a piece of pie?" enough already!
(here is a picture of the pie.)
fall always gets me in the baking mood. yummy fall foods...mmmm good! apple pie and chili, just a few of my favorites. above are the cookies that kylee and i made. they were supposed to be sugar cookies, but i just couldn't figure out why the dough turned out so brown. yeah, the next day it dawned on me....big dummy, i used brown sugar instead of granulated sugar...oops. fortunately, i stumbled upon something good. i don't know what the heck i was thinking. i'm not sure you ever get your brain back completely after pregnancy....but maybe i didn't have the whole thing to begin with?

another thing i've found fun is to make crafts with kylee. this time i thought that making spiders would be fun. kylee loved it. it gave kylee a chance to practice using her scissors...she really does a great job with them. i'll have to come up with something creative for thanksgiving. any ideas?

happy anniversary

i remember a very special day five years ago, a day that would change my life forever. it was five years ago today that i became mrs. rimbo. every time i think of our wedding day it makes me smile and feel all warm inside. it literally was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. i got to marry my high school sweetheart,...and, i felt the peace of the Lord like i have never felt before. it was simply amazing. i don't know any other way to describe it.

five years we have been married now....why does it feel like ten? maybe it's because we started dating almost twelve years ago. i just love reminiscing about old times....our crazy high school relationship, our off again, on again drama. so funny! i am just glad that it stuck, though the drama still continues just in different ways, actually come to think of it, it is more like a comedy now (with the kiddos). the Lord has really blessed you and i. we have grown and changed so much over the years....i am so glad we have done it together. i really would be lost without you. you are an amazing husband and wonderful daddy. i am so lucky to be called your wife. thank you for all your love and patience for putting up with me for all these years. and yes, you are welcome for putting up with you too! just kidding!!! happy, happy, happy anniversary sweetheart! i love you........

those eyes

i cannot get over how amazingly beautiful our girls eyes are. one with brown, one with blue....both stunning! God is amazing isn't he? what beauty he has created. i have always been an "eyes" person, always fascinated with their color and shape, but mostly all they have seen, what lies beneath (if that makes sense.) it makes me wonder what these girls will see. i hope they see God in all His glory....and that is in everything!
i think this one should be in a magazine ad or something....what do ya think?
i have lots more, but i am going to put them on flickr.....i'll do that tomorrow. i need to go to bed i am so stinkin' tired!

look at me

she's finally doing it. along with her first tooth she is now sitting up. yeah!!! i love the shorts on her head. i have a picture of kylee just like it when she was about the same age, but the shorts were blue...and they look so different. there is something about them that looks so much a like, but i can't quite put my finger on it. too cute though.

omaha or bust

unfortunatly though we went to omaha, it was a bust. cool zoo, but bad timing. alaina, getting her first tooth, kylee... just grouchy (not sure why, just one of those days i guess.) and the zoo was packed. as i am sitting here writing kylee is telling me that she wants to go back.....hmmm let me think....no, not for a while. maybe when we have lots of money to spend on concessions and souvenirs (boy, i wonder who's daughter she is???), that would have been kylee's idea of a great trip. she wasn't too thrilled when i pulled out the lunch bag with homeade turkey sandwiches, apples and pretzels....."but they have popcorn!" lainey liked being outside, just a little messed up with the whole feeding thing. it doesn't look like she has a milk allergy after all, which really sucks because i wasn't able to handle the soy so i had stopped breastfeeding to give her soy formula (we thought she was improving). well, after a few days she was still spitting up a ton. now she is on regular formula because i have nothing left to offer her which makes me so sad. i feel so bad for her, spitting up everyday all day long has to hurt, not to mention annoying. we are at the end of our rope trying to figure out what to do. poor baby!

man, i didn't mean for this post to be so.... "ugh!" sorry.

whoa......

i love this picture...my little cowgirl and doughnut fanatic (she had three doughnuts in a matter of minutes at the Louisburg Cider Mill.....mmmmm good lunch!)

i can't believe that this little girl is already six months old. fifteen pounds of pure sweetness. and it has only taken us these six months to figure out what is possibly causing her spitting up. she may have a milk allergy. poor thing! yeah for me, that means i have to stop drinking and eating dairy and start drinking soy! can i just say yuck, yuck, yuck! alaina, i love you so dearly, but i don't know how long i will be able to drink that nasty stuff. at least it's not going to waste....kylee loves the vanilla soy that i bought. alaina is on the verge of crawling before sitting and she is getting her first tooth......i just love when they get those first two teeth on the bottom, except for when you are a nursing mommy, and they decide to take a bite! she is growing so fast.

sweet alaina, you make me so happy! i never could have imagined loving another little person so much. you have added a new dimension of love to my life.

the boss

kylee's phrase of the day........

kylee and i were having breakfast yesterday morning when i randomly asked her if she wanted to be a "mommy" one day. her response....."yeah, i wanna be the boss!" you can't get more honest than that. i'll be sure and inform her future husband of that fact. (you kinda had to be here to really hear her matter of fact response.....it was pretty funny.)

(i got kylee to say, "i wanna be the boss," again, while playing little mommy....listen carefully.)

picnic in the park

okay, so i thought i would take the girls for a picnic in the park before kylee went to school the other day, i never knew it would be so fun (well, funny!) it was a beautiful day, cool breeze, warm sunshine, two fussy kids, what better way to cheer them up than a picnic lunch in the park. we get there and lay out the blanket, kylee unpacks the lunch and alaina lays there soaking in the scenery and i just relish in the beauty of my family. as soon as everything is unpacked and we start eating kylee pipes up, "mommy, i have to pee."

me: "are you serious? you just went before we left the house."
kylee: her legs bouncing nervously..."yeah, i have to pee."
me: "really? can you hold it?" i am looking in every direction hoping that a bathroom will
magically appear....no luck. then look at my watch and realize that school doesn't start for
another hour and we were planning on staying at the park until then. i don't want to
repack everything back up and drive to a gas station and then unload again.
kylee: "i can hold it, i don't have to pee.....(long pause)....i have to pee."
me: i am now frantically looking around checking out our surroundings....big trees, bushes...no
one in site (you know where i am going.) "kylee, do you think you could pee on the
ground?"
kylee: excitedly asks "like a rabbit?" (not like a dog, or cat, but a rabbit....what?)
me: laughing "yeah, like a rabbit."
kylee: "yeah i can."
me: while turning around to get a baby wipe, "we have to go over there by the bush and do
it really, really fast."
kylee: standing there with her pants already down around her ankles.
me: "not yet, pull up your pants."
so we run over to the bush....aliana is just lying there on the blanket oblivious that she is by herself on the blanket (we were only a few feet away.) i pull down kylee's pants, hold her hands and tell her to squat. she does a great job. we go back to the blanket wipe our hands and start to have lunch. kylee is so proud of herself, she sits there with a big smile on her face.
kylee: "i peed in a bush!"
me: "yeah, lets not tell anyone okay? we're not really supposed to be doing that."
kylee: "why?"
me: "because we could get into trouble, you aren't supposed to pee in the park."
kylee: "oh!"

so what does kylee do, the first person she tells is her school teacher when she was putting her in the car. great! what was i supposed to do. i can't be the only mother who has made there kid pee in a bush. (it sure would have been easier if she was a boy!) some may think this was terrible, but i think it was just too funny not to share. the "like a rabbit" part just kills me.

what better way to spend quality time with your kids....teaching them how to pee in bushes, followed by lunch and a fun game of hide and seek. we really did have a great time, and i really had a great laugh.

picasso

beautiful art!!! i love seeing how kylee's creativity is developing. it's been recently that she's becoming quite the artist.....actually drawing things that are supposed to resemble something or in this case someone...our family (however, alan didn't come out too clear). as you'll see below i labeled who everyone is. do you like how she drew us all upside down?...our legs are on our head and our hair is on our butt (our eyes too)! picasso in the making i think. it really is neat to see things through her eyes.

more and more

....just adding a few new pictures of the girls. i love that they (Kylee) is willing to be bribed (with some sort of junk food) to be my practice models all the time. i'll have more of alaina next month seeing as she will be six months old....wow. hopefully she'll be sitting up! kylee looks a little sad in her picture ("mom, again...do i really have to do this again?"), but i thought it was precious.

steam roller

yes, only five months old and the steam roller is in motion. this is a new thing for us because kylee didn't start rolling over like that until she started crawling. this video doesn't show her going very fast, but she really can move. the only down side is that i can no longer contain the spit-up (not like i was really able to contain it anyway, just in a smaller area.) i can't keep her on the blanket anymore, so there is vomit everywhere....gross! praise the lord for oxi-clean!!!!!

first day of school treat!

mmmmmm......chocolate cream filled cupcakes. i have always wanted to, but never took the time to actually make them. what a mess. alan came home and was like "what the heck happened in the kitchen?" it literally looked like it exploded...but well worth the effort. i'll make up any kind of excuse to make something chocolate and i was thinking that since kylee is starting school tomorrow i thought she needed a "first day of school" treat. she loved it, can you tell. she says that they'll make her strong....i say they make me weak (and a little thicker around the middle.) hey sarah, don't tell kylee that i sent some to your house...she doesn't like to share her sweets....hmmmmm, i wonder where she gets that.

as for alaina, this picture was too funny. alan took it when i was at work last week. we have a picture of of kylee just like this, sometimes they really do look alike...but most times not. i just love my blue and brown eyed sweets!

another new favorite

how precious is this, seriously? so relaxed in papooh's arms, what better way to spend a few moments.....especially after puking all over mom. yep, the poor thing is still at it. we are hoping that this spitting up thing will die down soon, in the next month maybe? i think that's just more wishful thinking on my part. our washing machine is getting a serious workout, so am i! it's a good thing she is so darn precious, it's all worth it. thanks dad for hanging out with us, always a good time. i learn something new everytime, why didn't i listen more when i was younger?

lurkers and looky-loo's

hey all you "looky-loo's," yes, you know who you are.....you come to look, but never comment. so sad for me. part of the fun in having the blog is to read what others have to say about it (to see who is checking it out). you don't have to say much, you can just tell me how weird i am. i promise it doesn't take long and it isn't hard. so if you have a minute after checking out what's new with us leave a little something.

"a date"....what's that?!?

you know those nights when a boy and girl would go out to dinner and movie (something fun), getting to know the other person a little better....trying to make a good impression. yeah, that is called a date, those don't happen aroun' these parts much, but thanks to my dad and donna, alan and i were able to have a "date night" (only happens 2 or 3 times a year) at the royals game. dad had two tickets to the royals vs. red sox game and thought of us (big red sox fans).....dad you are a big sweetie, thank you for thinking of us. donna, thanks for being available to watch the girls, i'm so glad they were good for you. we had a great time. baseball games are always entertaining, especially when you have a loud drunk family sitting next to you....it was amazingly quiet when they left during the 4th inning. no, i really do enjoy going to baseball games. it's nice to sit back and relax, drink a really "expensive" beer, chat, watch the game....even have time to think (love that.) so much fun!

the feet....mmmmmm good! i love this picture of the two girls, kylee loves to entertain and alaina loves to be entertained.....loves her big sister so much.

what's new for now......nothing

absolutely nothing new around these parts.....probably why i haven't added anything to the blog recently. this is our first family portrait (with alaina), i am so amazed that everyone cooperated so well, especially with me running into the picture after setting the timer. i was laughing at the whole thing before we did this because we were all getting "dolled up," upstairs just to go downstairs to our basement. i stopped feeling so ridiculous after seeing the pictures....not to bad with the self timer. my two little models below, getting so big. i am not kidding, kylee is getting huge. is it possible for them to grow like three inches over night, because that is what it seems like. i was watching a video of kylee yesterday from march....wow, she has changed soooooo much. alaina has recently found her feet. fun new entertainment.....we are grateful, maybe now we won't develop carpel tunnel in our wrists from shaking the darn rattle all the time (especially alan.) "the feet"....next post. for now that's all.

tattoo

i love this picture. however i am still trying to get used to the tattoo (it's getting a little easier each day.) last week it was decided that friday was going to be the day.....well, friday was the official day that alan was inked! yep, that aint' no fake tattoo, that's the real deal. look at those cute little butt cheeks :)
what can i say, we were all down stairs... i had my camera....it automatically focuses on them. i cannot resist these cute as can be moments. awesome, awesome and awesome!!! kylee, alaina....you make mommy smile.
sweet potatoes anyone? we've moved on to sweet potatoes today. this picture is a little scary, but it's too funny. you think she likes them? "more mommy, more! i love getting them all over my face!" stay tuned for green beans....that'll be interesting.
